Cem OSLU
ジェム・オスルは1992 年、トルコのアダナで生まれました。12歳でアンカラのビルケント大学で正式な音楽教育を始めました。ビルケント大学在学中に、第1回全国カムラン・ギュンデミル作曲コンクールで3 位に入賞。2010年、ウィーン音楽院に入学。ウィーンでの2年間の後、バークリー音楽大学に転入し、2014年に映画音楽科を卒業しました。オスル氏は、MTNA作曲コンクールで州（マサチューセッツ州）および地区（米国東部）で1位、全国レベルで2位を受賞しました。また、2017年のカドゥキョイ・シュレイヤ・オペラハウス作曲コンクールでは、1位と聴衆賞を受賞しています。2018年のエザジュバシュ国際作曲コンクールでは、ピアノ協奏曲「Rise」が2 位、そしてメルスィン国際音楽祭作曲コンクールでは、クラリネット四重奏曲が1 位を受賞しました。 2020 年には、ゲディック・アート社から委嘱を受け、アナトリアン・ウインド・クインテットとゲディック・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団のための作品を作曲。 「Yolculuk（ヨルジュルク）」は、2020年にイスタンブールで初演されました。2022年には、著名なボロサン弦楽四重奏団から委嘱を受け、弦楽四重奏曲を作曲。「瞬きの中で」は、2023年10月にイスタンブールで初演されました。 2014年から2022年の間、オスル氏は映画業界での経験を積むためにロサンゼルスに在住。映画音楽作曲家としてのクレジットには、『Alien’s Sister』（2014年）、『The Thirty-Nine Days』（2015年）、『Interior Night』（2016年）などがあります。現在は篠原真氏の指導のもと、研鑽を積んでいます。

1-Opening
Opening movement does not have a limitation in where it draws its inspiration. It represents a free sense of the world, without borders.
2-Africa
Traditional music of Africa possesses highly complex contrasting rhythmic patterns. It is said that the dealing of the tension between the contrasting rhythms is in a way revealing how the African people celebrate and makes sense of the constant conflict and tension in life.
This movement is based on a pattern that is commonly heard in many regions of West Africa. The foundation of the pattern is a 4-to-6 polyrhythm where half of the 6-beat part is syncopated. The 4-beat “organizing pattern” which is accented by the players’ tapping feet remains constant while variations are introduced to contrasting patterns in an improvisational manner. Melodies that enter in the second half of the movements are inspired by the melodies sung or played on traditional African instruments, which are often short repetitive phrases that use 5-note scales.
3-Japan
This movement is based on a traditional Japanese scale called “In” or “Miyako-bushi” scale. Texture of the movement is inspired by instruments such as Shakuhachi and Koto as well as the human voice.
4-Middle East
Many unique elements of Middle Eastern music are showcased in this movement. The opening is a short example of unmetered, improvisatory introduction. The scale used in this movement is one of the hundreds of “maqams” called Hijaz. The fast section utilizes an irregular time meter. (7/8, 2+2+3) All of these elements are commonly heard throughout many different regions of the Middle East.
5-Eastern Europe
This movement draws inspiration from the sound of Balkan and Gypsy bands. Both the familiar, exciting accompaniment pattern and the use of raised scale degree 4 are heard all over Eastern Europe. Improvisatory nature of the traditional music is apparent in this movement as well.
